An Inconvenient Truth

I had the opportunity on Sunday to see the new movie, An Inconvenient Truth. If you are unfamiliar with the title, this is the new documentary about the problem of global warming featuring Al Gore. It has been described as two hours of film of Al Gore giving a slideshow, but to be fair, it's a bit more than that. There really wasn't much in the film I didn't already know, but some of the statistics, presented in visual terms, are overwhelming. And there is some very clear visual evidence of the problem. I would encourage anyone and everyone to see this movie if you have the chance, especially those who still don't believe in the truth of global warming. The evidence is undeniable. One thing I did come away with having seen the movie is that there is still time to solve and reverse this trend. Not a lot of time, granted, and we need to start soon, but it's not yet too late.

I was thinking that George Bush needs to see this film. Then I realized it wouldn't do any good. As someone once said about W, if he believes something on Tuesday, he will believe it on Thursday, regardless of what happens on Wednesday.

Yes, do go see the movie, and then let's talk about the evidence for global warming. Take a look at the scientific evidence, not what's reported in the mainstream press.

Of course, the chances of the movie ever making it to Hutchinson are probably nil. Same with Fairmont, which is why I saw it in Minneapolis when I had the chance.

The National Academy of Sciences (a private organization chartered by Congress to advise the government on scientific matters) released a report on Monday stating that global temperatures are the warmest they've been in two thousand years.

Will you still like it warm when the global ice caps melt, the coastal shore lines of the continents are flooded and life as we know ti on this planet comes to a halt?

Unfortunately, the movie will probably never play Winona either. I'm still surprised that Fahrenheit 911 did

Al Gore was on the Daily Show Wednesday talking about his new book and movie, An Incontinent Truth, and said he thought W should see the film.
Even though most in the audience applauded the statement, I had to laugh. W could see the movie 10 times and it wouldn't change his mind.
Gore also made the point that virtually all of the [so-called] scientists who dispute the evidence of global warming have direct links to fossil fuel industry, Either big oil, or coal.
