Cuz

I got just one Christmas card yesterday (and none today). It was from a cousin of mine who I see occasionally in Winona, but from whom I've never received a Christmas card before. Which, of course, brings up the ever-present question: if you get a card from someone who's not on your "list," do you automatically send one out to them, as well? There are a lot of people to whom I send cards who never send me one. Most of those people don't send out cards, I assume. I'd be interested to hear what other people might think about this.

This is why you should always send your Xmas cards out late enough in December so that no one who isn't already planning on sending you a card can, upon getting one from you,add you to their list and get you a card before "The Big Day".

BTW: Who's the cousin?

But seriously folks,
I don't recall this ever happening to me, I always send out many more cards than I receive but I think it depends upon why you send out cards.
If you send cards because you feel some sort of moral obligation to do so, then you would probably should send one to that cousin.
However, if you send cards to wish those people who are important in your life a Happy Holiday (take that Bill O'Reilly) I guess it would depend upon how much you value that particular cousin's role in your life.
Or if you're like me and send out cards so you can get in on Judy's cookies, and that part of the event is already done why add another card to your list when there are no more cookies to be had? (OK, that part was said in jest.)
I remember on Xmas, inspired by the Carpenters' song "Merry Christmas Baby", I sent a card to this girl who lived in our neighborhood that I had a big crush on right before Xmas Day. She didn't send me a card that year (or any other year for that matter) but she did send a real sweet thank-you note right after the First of the year. And someplace in my closet i stillhave that note

I'm with Mo. Card 'em. A Christmas card says, "I'm thinking of you this Christmas." Unless you actually hate the people, why not respond in kind? If they waved to you on the street and yelled happy Holidays, would you respond?

And to people who haven't received a card from me yet. I'M WORKING ON IT.
